Welcome back to the Win STEM blog! Dive right in and learn more about the team that makes the magic behind the scenes a possibility!
Welcome back to our Win STEM blog! It has been a while since our last post back all the way in April, but it's been a pretty crazy summer - I think we can all agree on that. With the start of the school year this Fall, Win STEM has come a long way. Not only has this nonprofit attained federal and state status as a Public Charity, now being renowned as a 501(c)3 nonprofit, but Win STEM has established a local presence at the University of Texas at Dallas. Win STEM at UT Dallas is a new student organization at the University, and it couldn't have been made possible if not for a few wonderful people (who I like to call the Wonder Team). Several outstanding individuals have supported us all this way, and we continue to aspire and strive in the STEM field as a team, bringing resources and opportunities to one and to all! Today, we want to introduce our empowering team members, who each have goals in mind to make the impossible possible.
Several outstanding individuals have supported us all this way, and we continue to aspire and strive in the STEM field as a team, bringing services to one and to all!
Drum roll please, I present to you... our fabulous Wonder Team!
Meet Raluca
Hey everyone! My name is Raluca Narita, and I am the President of the Win STEM Foundation. I am a sophomore, double majoring in Biology and Healthcare Management and am also a proud pre-med student 💪🩺. I founded Win STEM as a nonprofit back in March and am now at the stage of building up this nonprofit’s presence in the UT Dallas community. Fun fact, I was born in Romania, hence the hard to pronounce name. I like ice skating, reading, writing, walking my dog Noah, and hanging with my best friends. Feel free to reach out to me about anything at all, I’m here to help, as is the rest of our fantastic team! I want to give a shoutout to our wonderful Officer Team at UTD, this student organization wouldn’t have been possible without them. Do join our student organization if you are a UTD student, and if not, check out our website for resources and our volunteer application! Hope you have a wonderful year, stay safe, and join Win STEM today! #winstem #womenempowerment #womeninstem

Meet our UT Dallas Student Organization Advisor
Margaret Garnett Smallwood teaches business communication classes at UTD. Before joining UTD in 2011, she worked in corporate communications, marketing communications and public relations. Margaret had her own communications firm in Richardson for many years, which provided PR and communications services to technology-based companies. She graduated from UTD with her MBA and is now finishing as master’s in Communication Studies at another Texas state university.
And so the Fun Begins
Now that we have heard a few words from our Wonder Team, we will be exploring through the adventures this year will bring despite the ongoing pandemic, and do our very best to make the most out of this year! If you have any questions, please reach out to us, we would be very excited to help you out! There are going to be various upcoming opportunities regarding scheduling one-on-one conferences, participating in consultations, training sessions, and virtual volunteering/shadowing opportunities which ensure social distancing measures. We cannot wait to engage with all of you and make Win STEM impactful!
